This private reference service is not a government office. It cannot confirm present custody, release anyone, post bond, or obtain an official booking record. Contact the public office that holds the record for those actions.

Official record contacts

Use the office whose work created the record. Benton County Corrections is the local jail and booking custodian; the Sheriff's Office routes Sheriff investigative and public-records matters. Confirm hours before visiting because agency schedules can change.

Where to look first

These routes keep a custody question, police report, court record, and federal or state custody search in their proper systems.

  • For a Benton County Jail roster result or a requested booking record, use the official County record path.
  • For an individual warrant concern, use the Sheriff and court contacts described in Most Wanted Fugitives.
  • For a city incident report, contact the appropriate Kennewick, Richland, West Richland, or Prosser police records unit.
  • For a state-prison custody record, use the Washington DOC search.
  • For a federal or immigration detention question, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator that matches that custody system.
