Richland Busted Arrests and Bookings
Richland sits near the top of Benton County by size. An April 1, 2025 estimate put the city at 64,930 people, second among the county's incorporated cities in the Washington OFM population table. When something happens inside city limits, the Richland Police Department handles the response. Custody is a different matter. The city does not run its own jail, so anyone arrested by Richland officers ends up in the shared county system. That makes Benton County Corrections the natural first stop for a booking question, while the police report itself stays with the department.
Keeping the two records straight saves real time in a name search. A Richland police item tells you officers responded and made an arrest. The county roster, in turn, shows whether that person was booked and where they sit in custody. Each answers its own question. The County Corrections information lays out how the shared jail system works for Richland and the other jurisdictions it serves.
Where Richland Busted Mugshots Appear
Start with the county for any Richland adult booking. The Daily Jail Roster page points visitors to the Inmate Inquiry. Be aware of what that inquiry shows. Its public form and list view carry no photo field, and the county publishes no fixed update schedule for it. Richland Police does maintain a News & Media page. That page offers agency information on an irregular basis, though, not a current inmate roster, an arrest blotter, or a recent-bookings feed.
| Source | Best use | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Benton Inmate Inquiry | Search adult local custody and certain indexed in- or out-of-custody records | No photo field on the visible public grid or form |
| RPD News & Media | Find selected police information and releases | Irregular news is not a city booking log |
| Richland Police Records | Request a police report or other city-held record | It does not make City Police the holder of the county booking file |
| County NextRequest | Request an identified County Corrections booking record or releasable image | Record existence and exemptions still control disclosure |
Private sites come second, and only with limits understood. RecentlyBooked's Benton listing spans the whole county. So a listing there is neither an RPD booking record nor proof that someone is still in custody. Mugshots.com's Benton section leans toward older years rather than current Richland arrests. If either source attaches a city label to a name, confirm it with the county, the records custodian, or the court before relying on it.
Richland Busted Roster Search
Benton's search interface splits current custody from the wider archive. Check the In Custody box. Results stay limited to people booked right now. Uncheck it, then set a booking-from and booking-to range. The search then reaches both in- and out-of-custody records the system still indexes. How long any record stays searchable is not promised anywhere on the page. Searchable fields include name, subject number, booking number, booking dates, and housing facility. Each result row shows the name, subject number, custody status, a multiple-bookings indicator, and where the person is housed.
- Start at the official Benton Inmate Inquiry with a first or last name and no unnecessary filters.
- For a present custody question, check In Custody. Treat the result as a current local status, not as a case decision.
- For a prior event, clear that control and use a focused date range. This is a search method, not evidence that the county offers a daily, weekly, or rolling booking feed.
- When a likely result appears, compare subject number, housing facility, and custody status before relying on it.
- Use RPD records for an incident report, then the court search for disposition. The county record hub explains other Benton County custody channels.
Richland itself publishes no verified inmate roster. There is no booking-photo policy, no recurring arrest log, and no scheduled booking feed. That gap does not rule out a police release mentioning an arrest someday. It just means the official path runs through a county roster query first, then a focused records request to the city or county when you need a specific document.
Richland Police Records and Fees
Need a Richland police report? Start with Richland Police Records. That page lists the police records phone line. For the broader process, the City's Public Records Requests page walks through submitting a request, tracking its status, paying any charges, and retrieving responsive records. Name the specific report or record you want, and include the incident date, case number, people involved, or location if you have them. This route reaches city-held documents only. It does not mean RPD holds the county booking photo.
| Richland public-record category | Published charge |
|---|---|
| Paper copies | 15 cents per page |
| Scanned copies | 10 cents per page |
| Electronic files | 5 cents per four files |
| Electronic data | 10 cents per gigabyte |
| Media or postage | Actual cost |
The City publishes its copy-fee categories. Body-camera redaction gets billed separately. Neither the fee table nor the records page promises that a booking image exists, sits with RPD, or can be released. Remember the split: a city report and a county jail booking are different records under different custodians.

Richland Busted Booking Handoff
Richland's real publication gap is the handoff. City police information ends where the county booking begins. Nothing Richland-run sits between them. A city news release gives the department's own account of an incident, but it will not track later bookings, transfers, releases, or court dates. For adult local custody, use the county inquiry. For how the case ends up, the court record takes over.
- Police information
- A statement or report held by Richland Police about a city incident. It can be useful context but is not an all-arrests list.
- County booking result
- A Benton County Corrections custody record. Its status may be current or not current depending on the inquiry setting and indexed data.
- Release
- A change from current jail custody. It does not say why the case ended or whether it is still pending.
- Court disposition
- The later case status or outcome recorded by the court, which must be checked separately.
This sequence matters most when a search finds no current custody match. The person may already be released. They may have been booked somewhere else, or simply not indexed yet.
Richland Busted Booking Record Requests
For a Benton County adult booking record or an existing booking photo, County Corrections is the office to ask. Two doors work: the Benton County public-records page and its NextRequest portal. Keep the request tight. Name the person, add a booking number or date range if you have one, note RPD as the arresting agency when that applies, and ask for a releasable record or photo. Don't ask the county to create an image that doesn't exist. It will only release what it already has.
Expect a first reply within five business days. That reply isn't always the records themselves. It might be a link, a request for clarification, a time estimate, or a denial with reasons attached. Inspection, searching, and standard redaction cost nothing. Copies and delivery can carry fees, and a photo may be billed at what a private print shop actually charges rather than a flat rate. The County Code records chapter spells out the full rules.

Richland Court and DOC Records
An arrest in Richland usually leads to a court case, and the Washington Courts case search is where that case lives. The locator shows case details and docket activity, while the court itself keeps the official file. A booking entry or a news post can't tell you whether a charge was dropped, changed, or resolved. Only the court record closes that gap.
The Washington DOC incarcerated search does a different job. It covers people currently in state custody, not someone just booked into Benton County Jail, someone released locally, or every past Richland police event. There's no booking-photo field on it. For alerts on a known custody record, release, transfer, or escape, Benton VINE sends notifications, though it isn't a photo source or a court database substitute.
Richland Busted News Context
Richland sits in the Tri-Cities media market. Local outlets sometimes cover major police or court events. The Tri-City Herald crime section, NonStop Local, KEPR local news, NEWStalk 870, and 102.7 KORD local news all draw on agency statements, court filings, or their own reporting. Treat them as leads. None is a standing Richland roster. None posts booking photos on a routine basis.
A story's real value is the trail it leaves. Look for an agency name, a date, a case number. Take those details to the offices that hold the files. County Corrections answers custody questions, RPD holds the police report, and the court locator tracks the case. Crime News lays out the wider county media picture, and it's worth remembering that private county listings sit outside the official system and can lag or miss entries.
